Zeemi's live stream shopping commerce

Comitted for end-to-end design process undertaken to revitalize the online shopping experience for Zeemi, an Indonesian startup specializing in interactive livestreams through their website and mobile app.

Problem and Challenges:

  • Zeemi's initial platform failed to capture user attention and translate visits into sales. This could be due to a combination of factors, including a design that didn't resonate with young demographics, a lack of features that drove engagement, or technical issues that hindered the shopping experience.

Time constraints necessitated a Lean UX approach, requiring swift collaboration with Zeemi's two business owners to grasp their goals, target audience, and the competitive landscape.

Insights Gained:

  • Business Goals: Increasing revenue, customer acquisition, market share growth, and optimizing pricing and go-to-market strategies.
  • Value Proposition: Providing an interactive and engaging live stream shopping experience for Indonesian consumers.
  • Target Audience: Generation Z and millennial demographics.

Market and Competitor Studies:

Extensive research encompassed:

  • Indonesian E-commerce Market Trends: Analyzed the rise of livestream commerce and how Indonesians make online purchases.
  • Livestream Commerce Surge: Delving into the growing popularity of live shopping experiences.
  • Online Spending Dominance: Assessing the dominance of online shopping in Indonesia, based on reports from reputable technological research and consulting firms within the country.
  • Competitive Analysis: Evaluating the offerings of major UK livestream commerce players and their user experience. This included both direct competitors within the Indonesian market and indirect competitors in the global livestream commerce
  • SWOT Analysis: Utilizing the findings from the competitive analysis, a comprehensive SWOT analysis was constructed to identify Zeemi's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

Heuristic Evaluation:

My evaluation revealed some areas where Zeemi's mobile app and website of Inconsistent Terminology, Limited Stream Controls, Unclear Cart Status, Security Concerns.

Define

The research findings were meticulously synthesized to define clear goals, relevant KPIs (Daily Active Users, Average Watch Time per Live Stream, Live Stream Comments and Interactions, Conversion Rate, Average Order Value, Repeat Purchase Rate) and ROI (Cost-Benefit Analysis, Increased Customer Lifetime Value) expectations.

The Affinity Diagramming Technique was employed to organize and categorize research effectively. Additionally, a robust Information Architecture (IA) was created to map out the user journey and content organization.

Ideate & Prototype:

  • Rapid Sketching: Multiple iterations of low-fidelity prototypes were created through quick hand sketches.
  • Lo-Fi Prototyping: Three versions of low-fidelity prototypes were developed to test core functionalities and user flows.
  • A/B Testing: Rigorous A/B testing was conducted on the lo-fi prototypes to gather valuable user feedback and identify areas for improvement.
  • Hi-Fi Prototyping: Utilizing the insights gleaned from A/B testing, a high-fidelity prototype was crafted, incorporating user recommendations and feedback.

Empowering Sellers through Interactive Live Stream Pages

Streamlined Seller Live Stream Pages: Optimized the seller live stream page, empowering sellers to showcase products and engage with customers in real-time. With a user-friendly interface and interactive features, sellers can maximize reach and drive sales.

Enhanced Seller-Consumer Interaction: With features facilitating direct communication and interaction, fostering trust and personalized shopping experiences. Through live chat, product demonstrations, and Q&A sessions, sellers build rapport, address inquiries, enhances trust, engages customers, and drives conversions for an improved shopping experience.

I demonstrated my commitment to excellence by implementing a comprehensive design system encompassing components and meticulous documentation.

Usability Studies:

Participants:

  • Conducted remote, virtual usability interviews with 12 participants (6 Gen Z, 6 Millennials) with a mix of genders (specify the ratio, e.g., 4 male, 6 female).
  • The participants included both potential buyers and sellers on the platform.

Methodology:

  • Employed the "I like/I wish/What if" activity to gather user feedback and create a Feature Prioritization Model.
  • This model played a crucial role in shaping the final design strategy.

Following the successful launch of the redesigned live commerce platform, Zeemi achieved significant improvements as per client reports:

  • Sales Increase: Sales witnessed a remarkable 40% growth.
  • User Retention: User retention rate jumped from 10% to a healthy 32%.

These enhancements can be attributed to the implemented strategic improvements:
